The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making body of the United Nations (UN), composed of representatives from each of the 193 UN Member States. It serves as a platform for discussion of specific issues that lead to voting on and adoption of resolutions.
Every year, the UNGA meets in regular sessions, which run from September to December. This year marks the 77th session of the UNGA (UNGA77). It will officially open on Tuesday, 13 September, and the first day of the high-level General Debate will begin on Tuesday, 20 September. The General Debate provides a space for Member States to deliver statements and raise any topic of importance in front of a world audience.
UNGA77 will present an opportunity for world leaders to come together to discuss how we can collectively create a more sustainable and just future for all.
