Take a look at what's going on at Bright Bridge Ministry
Cokesbury has supported Bright Bridge Ministries for many years. This ministry was founded in 2007 as the Pensacola United Methodist Community Ministries, operating out of the former Richard's Memorial United Methodist Church in the Brownsville community. In 2019, it was rebranded as Bright Bridge Ministries (https://brightbridgeministry.org/). BBM’s mission is to help those in need become contributing members of society by providing food, recovery services, housing, and spiritual guidance.
BBM provides close to 500 meals per day, Monday through Friday. Until recently, all meal service was To-Go only, initially due to Covid restrictions, then to bathroom renovations. This changed on Sept. 12 with the reopening of the dining hall. BBM also provides meals for the REAP Lodges Shelter for women, children, and His Place residents.
The dining hall area looks excellent because of all the painting our Cokesbury youth did last summer during their Mission Week!
Volunteers from the Contemporary Sunday School class serve meals from 9:00-12:00 on the second Wednesday of every month.

At the end of July, the His Place men's transitional housing facility opened. A renovated Sunday School wing provides beds for 34 residents. The goal of this ministry is to provide stability, accountability, structure, and resources needed to move these men from homelessness to gainful employment and stable housing. A 12-bed dormitory accepts those coming off the streets (Level 1). Semi-private rooms are available to those accepted into the Level 2 program, where they must 1. maintain sobriety, 2. enroll in a recovery or life skills program, and 3. have a full-time job. BBM reports that 20 jobs were secured in August.
Top photos: The Cokesbury Women United and the Contemporary SS class each "adopted" a room - painted, provided bedding, rugs, curtains, lamps, pictures for the wall, and other necessities.

If you or your group are looking for a service opportunity, BBM has a place for you to plug in!
