Dear Victoria, Victoria Westminster and Whitehall BID members,

Please find below the latest update from the Met Police regarding forthcoming road closures:

Tuesday 13th September (Day +4)

Map A (below) – Around 2am until around 7am – All vehicle traffic prohibited

From around 2am to 7am, all vehicle access will be prohibited in the areas of Green and St James’ Park and from Lambeth Bridge to Whitehall junction with Trafalgar Square. This includes pre-arranged delivery and freight vehicles. No vehicles will be admitted to the vicinity for any reason whatsoever. Please do not attempt to gain access to the area during this time as this will be refused without exception. Download the map here.

Map B (below) – Around 7am onwards – Ordinary ceremonial event arrangements apply (Restricted vehicle access)

After 7am, the existing restrictions on vehicular traffic in the St James’ and Green Park area will resume.

To gain access, delivery drivers will need to produce

1.     Official Photo ID - Driving licence or passport
2.     Delivery note or proof showing the venue and contact details for the delivery.

Staff at the road closures will then call the venue to verify the delivery.

There is no anticipated impact on pedestrian access throughout this time.

Her Majesty will be flown from Scotland to RAF Northolt moving to Buckingham Palace by road. We expect there to be an impact on vehicular traffic in West London on Tuesday evening and into the early hours of Wednesday morning. Download the map here.

Look Forward

Presently planning is based upon the following expected events, however this is subject to change.

Wednesday 14th (Day +5)

Her Majesty will move from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall at approximately 2pm. We expect all vehicular traffic to be prohibited in environs of Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square from approximately 11am until mid-afternoon.

From 5pm, Her Majesty will lie-in-state in Westminster Hall and we expect vehicular road closures in the environs of Parliament Square.

Thursday 15th (Day +6)

Her Majesty will lie-in-state in Westminster Hall and we expect vehicular road closures in the environs of Parliament Square for the entire day. Depending on the size of queue, further spontaneous vehicular closures may occur in Victoria Embankment and Westminster Bridge Road.

After 5pm today (Monday 12th September) we will only be using the Victoria Emergency Notification System, not this mailing list, as our means of direct communication for this matter.
