Sayulita Septembers...The calm before the storm
It has been a slow month here in Sayulita, the beautiful sounds of birds chirping fill the plaza, the streets are quieter than usual and the ocean resembles a warm lagoon. The sparse swells bring in rolling waves for a couple of days at a time, and dawn patrol becomes something of a habit.
After an unusually dry Summer, we received a surprising amount of rainfall this past week. The raging river picked up multiple parked cars along the way, causing mayhem at the river mouth. And to top it off, western Mexico was hit by a 7.5 earthquake on Monday the 19th of September which was felt by Sayulita residents. (we are all ok).
These quiet months give us that time and space to recharge before stepping into high season again. Soon enough town will be full, restaurants will be brimming with midday margarita sippers and sunset surfers will be out to catch that one last wave. We can't wait for it all!
With every issue of the El Sayulero that we send out, we strive to share a piece of our paradise with you. |

Recipient of Sayulita Life's $5,000 Donation: Jaibitos Jr Baseball Team |
Sayulita Life’s September $5000 donation will go to the Jaibitos Jr, the local junior baseball team. The donation will help buy 8 dozen new baseballs for their pitching machine which was donated a few years ago. This is very beneficial for training as it is used with a lot of repetition for the children to bat. With this donation, the baseball team will be able to continue training and competing in local events. We had the opportunity to hear from the head coach of the Jaibitos, Fernando Lopez, who told us a little about the young baseball team. Read More |

Dia de la Independecia de México
|
We celebrated "Día de la Independencia de México" on the 16th of September. The celebration kicked off on the night of the 15th with "el grito" or "the shout", a synchronized call-and-response that dates back centuries. All throughout the day on the 16th the town's streets were buzzing, and the sound of mariachi and banda music echoed throughout. |
