Dear Hillside Supporter,
With the holidays fast approaching we are aware that some of you shop online using Amazon. Did you know that Amazon supports non-profits like Hills For Everyone? If you use AmazonSmile to shop AND you select Hills For Everyone as your charity of choice, we will receive a small percentage of funds with each eligible purchase. Bookmark this link. Additionally, Hill For Everyone also publishes a newsletter twice a year. We are just about to mail our Fall edition. If you would like to receive a copy, please let us know by emailing us at: info@HillsForEveryone.org. Be sure to include your name and full address. Thanks for your ongoing support of our work protecting important landscapes in the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor.
Sincerely,
Claire Schlotterbeck

Come Camp at Chino Hills State Park
Chino Hills State Park offers 20 campsites that you can reserve online through ReserveCalifornia.com. Regardless of the weather conditions, no campfires are ever allowed, but the dark night skies, coyote chatter, and stillness are a welcome and proximate change in our busy world. New picnic tables await at some sites, replacements for the ones that were damaged in 2020 Blue Ridge Fire. Dogs are allowed in the campground (and on the paved road), but never on the dirt trails. The dog(s) must be on a six foot leash at all times and can never be left alone at the campground. Reservations are allowed to be made six months in advance of your arrival. It costs $30 per night to camp. There is a maximum of eight people, two tents, and two vehicles per site. One vehicle is included in your reservation, additional vehicles are $5 a night.

The Benefits of Coyotes, Yes Benefits
While some may shudder at the mere mention of coyotes providing benefits, these omnivores (meaning they eat both plants and other animals) are critical to maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Coyotes provide rodent control. In other words, they keep the gopher, rat, and mice population down. A secondary benefit is that they therefore also keep the rodent-borne diseases down. With the presence of coyotes, other animal populations are also kept in check like raccoons, opossums, and rabbits. These latter animals eat your garden goodies and flowers. So, the next time your yard blooms—thank a coyote. For more information on how to co-exist with coyotes visit the Puente Hills Habitat Authority website.
