EM/2022/39

Reminder: Review of and online dialogue on the draft methodological guidance of the Nature Futures Framework

Dear IPBES members,

With reference to notification EM/2022/34 (5 September 2022), I would like to remind you that the review of the draft methodological guidance of the Nature Futures Framework, a flexible tool to support the development of scenarios and models of desirable futures for people, nature and Mother Earth, is open until 14 October 2022 at noon (Central European Summer Time).

The aim of this review is to ensure the continued involvement of Governments in the further development of the methodological guidance and is addressed to Governments only. Governments are invited to submit written review comments on the text of the methodological guidance of the Nature Futures Framework.

If you would like to participate as a reviewer in this review, please follow these steps:

  1. Register as a user of the IPBES website (https://ipbes.net/user/register) if you have not already done so;
  2. Register as a reviewer for the draft methodological guidance of the Nature Futures Framework at https://ipbes.net/registration/nature-futures-framework-review (this will only work when logged in first as an IPBES website user).
Once registered, you will immediately receive an email providing confidential access to the material and will be requested to submit your comments in English using a template available on the same webpage.

As part of this review, IPBES will organize an online dialogue with IPBES national focal points and other Government representatives on 20 September 2022. To accommodate different time zones, participants may choose to attend one of the following sessions:
  • Tuesday 20 September: 09:00-11:00 CEST
  • Tuesday 20 September: 16:00-18:00 CEST

The link where national focal points can register a delegation will be made available to them after successful registration as a reviewer on https://ipbes.net/registration/nature-futures-framework-review.

Please contact the technical support unit on scenarios and models at TSU-IPBES.scenarios@pbl.nl for questions on the Nature Futures Framework and the technical support unit on capacity-building at tsu.capacitybuilding@ipbes.net for technical questions on the dialogue meeting for national focal points and other Government representatives.

Thank you again in advance for your participation and assistance in strengthening the usefulness of the Nature Futures Framework through this governmental review and your continued support to IPBES.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Anne Larigauderie | Executive Secretary
