Jane Benson (*1973 in Thornbury, England, lebt und arbeitet in New York)
Jane Benson arbeitet in verschiedenen Medien wie Skulptur, Video, Sound, Digitaldruck und Installation, die sie oftmals in sehr eigenwilliger Form miteinander verschränkt. Ihre Arbeiten befassen sich mit Zerstörung, Verlust und Neuerfindung, wobei sie klassische Systeme der Kategorisierung destabilisiert und unterwandert, um neue Wege des Sehens und Betrachtens zu eröffnen und verborgene Potenziale hervorzukehren. Sie hat international ausgestellt, unter anderem im Kunstmuseum Bonn, Deutschland; in der Manchester Art Gallery, Großbritannien; im Tang Teaching Museum, Saratoga Springs, NY; im MoMA PS1, New York; im Boca Raton Museum of Art; im SculptureCenter, Long Island City, New York; im Henry Street Settlement: Abrons Art Center, NYC, Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, New York; das Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia und die Kunsthalle Emden. Jane Benson works in various mediums such as sculpture, video, sound, digital prints, and installation. Her research-based approach deals with destruction, loss, and reinvention,destabilizing and subverting classical forms of categorization to encourage new ways of looking and seeing, envisioning a rebirth from destruction She has exhibited internationally at venues, including Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany; Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester, UK; Tang Teaching Museum, Saratoga Springs, New York; MoMA PS1, New York; Boca Raton Museum of Art, Florida; SculptureCenter, Long Island City, New York; Henry Street Settlement: Abrons Art Center, New York, Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, New York; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia.
