Chroma Zone Closing Weekend: Sept 30 & Oct 1

Join us for the Closing Weekend of the 2022 Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival at these free, family-friendly public events:

FRIDAY NIGHT MURAL CRAWL with Pop-Up Stops
Friday, September 30 • 5 – 8 p.m.
in the Raymond / University Ave area

Pick up our event map - or download it HERE - at one of two info booths located on the north and south sides of Raymond Station on University Ave (near Carleton and LaSalle Streets). Plan your route to murals, creative businesses, and event Pop-Ups Stops along the way:

  • Create a Make+Take Metal Casting with the WOW Mobile Metal Lab and Show — Board this unique bus and pour metal to create your souvenir artifact! Choose a mold from the Cabinet of Curious Castings (bee, ice cream cone, sea monkey, teeth and more) pour metal into it, polish it, paint it and fashion it - a small sculpture, pendant, pin, keychain, cuff-links, pocket toy and what-have-you?!
  • Watch live painting demos by Chroma Zone muralists Wes WinshipMartzia Thometz and more — sponsored by Montana Paint and Wet Paint.
  • Bring your bike to join a guided bike tour with Move Minnesota at 3:30 p.m. — Register in advance to save your spot online HERE or join the tour day-of. Tour departs from the Red Lot on Prior Ave. Riders must be 18+, sign a waiver, and wear a helmet.
  • Hop on the Can Can Mini Putt Putt Bus for special mural tours with artists and experts. Tours are 30-40 minutes, leave on the hour, and depart/return to the Red Lot at Prior Works. Sign up in advance using this LINK to secure your spot on these tours:
    • 3 p.m. - "Murals of 2022, A Behind-the-Scene Look" with Angela Casselton, CEZ director and producer of Chroma Zone. Tour will be given in ENGLISH.
    • 4 p.m. - Changing Perspectives - with TBA guest artist. Tour will be given in ENGLISH.
    • 5 p.m. - Community Voices with Claudia Valentino, muralist and founder of COPLA MuralsClaudia is bilingual and will give this tour in SPANISH.

Join moderator Candida Gonzalez for a lively panel discussion with five of this year's Chroma Zone muralists - Votan, Povi Marie, Joy Spika, Maiya Hartman and Taylor Berman - in the Red Room of Can Can Wonderland from 6 – 7 p.m.

Enjoy Hawaiian music and dance by Hālau Hula ‘O Nāpunaheleonāpua (featuring local muralist Simone Alexa) from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. and again following the artist talk and remarks at 7:00 p.m. 

Admission is FREE but does requires check-in at the Chroma Zone table in the lobby of Can Can Wonderland PRIOR TO ENTRY. While event admission does not include Can Can’s famous mini golf, Chroma Zone guests can take a "mini tour" of the artist-designed golf course at 8 p.m.

Stay late to socialize with Chroma Zone muralists and alumni, and enjoy the whimsical amusements of Can Can Wonderland and the taproom upstairs at BlackStack Brewing. Free parking in the Red Lot off Prior Ave.
