Call for Papers: “Supporting College Students of Immigrant Origin: New Insights from Research, Policy, and Practice”

The volume will feature chapters across 3 themes: pre-college experiences of students of immigrant origin (e.g., cultural & social capital, college applications, family involvement, navigating documentation); students’ navigation of the college context (e.g., first-year transition, involvement, major selection, career development); & perspectives on transitions from college into next life phases (e.g., graduation, first jobs, graduate school & beyond). In exploring these topics, this volume seeks to bring together emerging conversations about the unique experiences of students of immigrant origin in higher education. We also aim to expand conversations about the institutional changes that could help colleges and universities foster success for these students. Submissions should be sent to Blake Silver by October 15, 2022. Questions? Contact Adrian Bitton.

Managing Procrastination and Expectations of Productivity Within Our Digital Reality
Hosted by the Ohio Union Activities Board. Our phones have been notorious for creating distractions and pulling us away from our responsibilities as students and our ability to create a balanced life of well-being. Now, as more facets of our lives are pulled into the digital world and we become more reliant on technology to support us throughout our daily lives, it becomes much harder to fight those distractions. This discussion will provide strategies to not only address our procrastination tendencies but will also discuss how to manage our productivity expectations to set us up for success.
