The Bi-Weekly News of Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory

While the auction is still several months away, now is the time to start soliciting items to ensure our success! Many businesses require a 60 day or more notice in order to consider donation requests, which means the next month is perfect time to start asking businesses that you frequent whether they would consider donating an item, service, or experience to PVCP's 2022 auction.

Every year, we use items from the auction to meet a tangible need on campus. Last year, your support enabled us to purchase a new bus for use for athletic events and field trips. Stay tuned for information on this year's project!

What kinds of items do we need?

  • Vacation homes, staycations, and out-of-town experiences
  • Athletic tickets
  • Restaurant gift cards
  • Family experiences
  • Creative baskets
  • Anything you would be interested in bidding on yourself

How do I get started?

Everything you need is available online here. Simply present the solicitation letter and donation form to businesses for their consideration. Remind businesses that their contributions are tax-deductible, and make sure to leave them with page three of the packet, which serves as their tax receipt. You may bring items to the front office at any time.

If you have any questions, contact Mr. Nyhart at bnyhart@pvcp.org.

Introducing Parent Groups!

PAC is excited to launch "Band" groups for parent communication in the lower and middle school! Through the Band app, we have the ability to:
  • Communicate with other parents in your child’s class
  • Access Sign Up Genius links for class parties and events
  • Participate in teacher gifts
  • Share pictures from field trips

This method of communication will strengthen community, streamline information, and benefit the kids and teachers too! All critical classroom information will be communicated by teachers through email and Praxi, but these private Band groups will facilitate communication between parents. Join your groups now at the links below:

Panther fans!

We have had an incredible start to our fall athletic programs here at PVCP! Our varsity volleyball team is off to a 3-0 start with two big matches this week. We have had two home matches thus far and have had a phenomenal turnout in regard to fan support bringing in a respective 75 and 85 fans! We appreciate your support. Our middle school volleyball team started their season last week and has their first home match of the season tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m.

Our middle and upper school swim teams have had one meet so far, and your Panthers did a great job placing in several events! Last but certainly not least, our middle school coed soccer team has been practicing hard as they prepare for their first match of the season on September 20.

Thank you for your continued support of Panther Athletics, and we look forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Game Day Passes

This year, admission to all PVCP varsity home games and events will be $2 for those aged 19 and up, and families can pay via cash or card.

But wait, we have good news! We are now selling Panther Game Day Passes for just $10 for the entire 2022-2023 school year!

This pass is $10 and will get you and everyone in your immediate family into any and all PVCP home events. The only exception will be the CAA State events hosted at our facilities. Game Day Passes can be purchased at any PVCP home game or in the front office from Mrs. Chadwick. We can also charge the $10 to your student account when you pick up the pass.

Thanks to our Generous Sponsors!

Panther Athletics would like to thank the following generous sponsors for their financial support! If you want to learn more about how you can support the Panther Athletics program, contact Athletic Director Casey Thorpe at cthorpe@pvcp.org.

Protecting School Choice

As mentioned previously, several efforts are underway to severely limit or end Arizona's new universal ESA program before it even takes effect. One anti-private school group called "Save our Schools," is trying to secure enough signatures by September 24 to place this issue on the November ballot in spite of the fact that this legislation was already passed by the people’s elected representatives and signed into law by Governor Ducey, who was elected by a majority of Arizonans. Because they are nearing their deadline, we strongly encourage all PVCP families to join the "Decline to Sign" movement and refuse to sign any petitions regarding education at this time.

There are several great resources available to stay informed on issues relating to school choice and other areas of importance to your family:

Parking Lot Reminders

Please do not park in reserved parking spaces in front of Cactus Christian Fellowship, the church on the lower school side of campus. Signs are in place to indicate reserved spaces. The church has events that coincide with PVCP events, and we have had several incidents that have created a problem for church parking. We desire to be good neighbors to CCF, so we thank you for your support.

Additionally, please be diligent to use the correct entry and exit points from the parking lots. Vehicles are only permitted to exit from the parking lot onto 24th street from the egress furthest north. No vehicle should be exiting from the ingress that is further south.

College and Career Update

Update from Mrs. Levene

Did you know that in PVCP's junior-level College and Career Class, students not only complete several personal inventories to help discern God's calling in their lives, but they also develop critical life skills to be successful in college and beyond?

"Would you rather have  a single penny that doubles every day for a month or $1 million up front?" This is a question posed to the Juniors during their personal finance portion of the College and Career Class. Learning about the power of compound interest is just one of the many facets of personal finance that they will be experiencing. BTW: A penny that doubles every day for a month would be worth $5,368,709!

Family Volunteer Hours

As a reminder, every PVCP family is asked to volunteer 20 hours of their time over the course of the school year. These hours should be logged in Praxi (directions below) as they occur to be approved by administration. Any unmet hours will be charged to the AR account at the end of the year at the amount of $15 per missed hour.

 How to log volunteer hours
·         Login to PRAXI Parent Portal
·         Open the drop down menu by clicking on the 3 horizontal lines on the left
·         Scroll to the VOLUNTEER option
·         Select FAMILY HOURS
·         Follow directions to log volunteer hours
·         Your submission will be sent to administration for approval and processing to your account. Once approved, you will no longer be able to edit the entry. Approvals are done manually and may not appear right away.

Mrs. Bell is launching a new crochet club for 6th-12th grade students on Wednesday, September 7! There are no fees for this club, but students will be responsible for purchasing supplies as needed. The first week will focus on the basics, so no prior experience is necessary. The club will meet in room 301 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4 p.m. Students must show up at least one day per week to learn the new item and start the new project.

The students will receive a start-up kit which includes one crochet hook, a guide on one of the items they will be making, and enough yarn for practicing and making the first item. This will be enough for making a hot pad and small purse. The participants will be required to buy the proper crochet hook and yarn after that. They will be given the design and time to get the materials before starting.

Contact Mrs. Bell at rachelbell@pvcp.org to inquire and learn more!
