Happy Labor Day Weekend! Enjoy the best of our community this holiday weekend: A float on the Teton River is always a great way to beat the heat!                                                   courtesy photo: Anna Lindstedt
Hello Friends and Neighbors,

September has always brought fond memories for me. I was a teacher for over 30 years, and I loved going back to school every year. But the last few years have been challenging for many teachers, and many need support now more than ever. Do you know a teacher? Maybe a friend, neighbor or you have kids in school? Let’s all pitch in to keep our schools and teachers in a good place. Perhaps you could lend some kind words or write a thoughtful note, join me in signing up to be a substitute, or take a teacher a treat. There are many ways to let someone know you appreciate them being a teacher. A little effort goes a long way.

Speaking of school starting, let’s pay close attention while driving, especially at crosswalks, bus stops, and not exceeding 25 mph in residential and school zones.

September brings in many routines with school, but there are also many transitions. The transition into a new season, changing temperatures, perhaps how we cook or take care of ourselves. September is also National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.

Many of us may be experiencing a different way of being with grief and loss recently. Our community has certainly had some tragic moments lately. If you or someone you care for could benefit from talking to a trained mental health care professional or want to know more, please call 988. Stay tuned for a community-wide remembrance ceremony later in the month.

Sending you all love and hugs,

 Mayor August
We are pleased to welcome new City Council Member Allison Michalski.

Allison is taking the seat of Scott Stuntz and will serve a two-year term. Allison’s mission in life is to support and protect the places she loves - especially the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and the City of Driggs. She joined the City Council because she believes strongly in the duty and power of public service. Allison is eager to serve the City of Driggs and the community to the best of her abilities. Read Michalski's bio and connect on the
City Council web page.
“One thing I’ve witnessed in living here for 24 years is that the growth is inevitable, so rather than complaining about it, I want to be more involved and have a voice for how all this development takes place.” DURA Chairman Amanda Conner explains. A long-term community member, Conner wanted to get involved and give back to the City of Driggs. And DURA seemed like a good fit. She took the lead role for the Driggs Urban Renewal Agency this spring.

Free Youth Flights

September 17th, 2022- For young people aged 8-17

Ever wondered what your neighborhood looks like from the sky? Or maybe you’re curious about how airplanes even work. You might even dream about being a pilot.

If you’re nodding your head “Yes” and are between the ages of 8 and 17, you’re ready to take a free Young Eagles flight and see what real pilots do on the ground and in the air

After two years off, the EAA, Young Eagles, program is back, for our 30th Anniversary, at Driggs Airport.  Young Eagles is the only program of its kind, dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane.  To date, we have introduced over two million kids into the world of aviation.
