Message from the Office
Dear Pacific School Families-
We have been seeing a lot of illness around Pacific School this week. Some of it is COVID, some of it is not, and some it is hard to tell. Sometimes people develop symptoms, test negative for days, and then test positive for COVID. Please take the following steps, so we can get through next week healthier:
Rest up over the three-day weekend
Keep students home if they are sick, even if they test negative for COVID
Wash hands regularly
Encourage students to wear masks to school and around others indoors if you are comfortable doing so
Thanks everyone for your help!
*Reminder: A student with COVID symptoms (which are pretty much any illness symptom) CANNOT return to school until their symptoms are improving, it has been 24 hours since fever resolution with no medication, AND they either test negative with lab-based tests (1 or 2 depending on the type) OR 10 days have passed. Flowchart.

We are unfortunately experiencing high levels of COVID-19 in our community. Due to this surge, we will not be providing individual exposure notifications at this time. Instead, please know that there is currently a high potential to be exposed to someone with COVID-19 (both in and out of school).
We will reassess the situation every week. Note that infections diagnosed in students and school staff are not necessarily the result of exposure at school, and when safety protocols are followed in schools, COVID-19 transmission remains more likely to occur outside of school settings.
Thank you for considering this important information. We consider the health and well-being of our community a priority. If you have questions and concerns, we can be reached at 831-425-7002, or you can contact Chyna Darby at cdarby@pacificesd.org.

The Pacific School Foundation needs help for the next school year, 2022-2023!
Pacific School Foundation parents welcome all parents and guardians to our monthly meeting and support for fundraising efforts that support the school.
Join other parents to make our school successful! Tell us how you can help by filling out the Parent/Guardian questionnaire online here: https://forms.gle/4nQvyckAHiikgi2v5
Join a completely parent volunteer group that helps support the school with fundraising and FUN-raising community events! We meet via Zoom typically the 2nd Tuesday of each month. These meetings are held with Principal Gross and several parents and it’s where we make decisions that help support the school.
The Pacific School Foundation is a nonprofit run by volunteer parents of current students at Pacific Elementary. All funds raised are to support our unique and special programs including the LifeLab program, Library program, Visual, Music and Theater Arts as well as supporting teachers with teacher grants. The fundraising needed for each student next year is approximately $268, which is about $30 per month per student or approximately $1 a day. Without fundraising, the school would be forced to cut back these special programs!
Join us at our monthly meetings. Join parents and Mr. Gross for the latest info act what’s happening at the school. Look at the school website for the link.
We need help fundraising leads for these fundraising and FUN-raising community events:
Potato Night (Friday November 4th), Movie Nights (one in Fall and one in spring), Art and Wine (Friday February 3 or 10th), Bingo Night (Friday May 5th)
Next Parents' meeting
Join with other parents and Principal Gross at our monthly meetings from August until May. They are scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month. Upcoming PSF Parent meeting is Tuesday, September 13th at 5:30pm. We try to be brief but productive in a one-hour meeting. Meet up online through Zoom.

Secure firearm storage is an essential part of home safety. With more guns in more homes due to an unprecedented surge in gun sales over the past two years, it’s more important than ever for parents and caregivers to know how to secure storage protects children. During the COVID-19 pandemic there has been a rise in unintentional shootings by children and gunfire on school grounds. And in 2020, gun suicide among children ages 17 and under reached the highest rate in over 20 years and firearms became the leading cause of death among children in the United States. Storing firearms securely can help prevent these tragedies and keep kids safe.
Please seehere for more information about secure firearm storage.

Hello wonderful community,
I am in search of place for our darling dog Ellie to be during the day while we are at school. She is lonely at home all day. Ideally, I’d find someone in Davenport who is home a lot and wants a companion during the day for themselves and/or their pup. She adores everyone and other dogs. Please reach out to me if this could be you or someone you know! Thank you from Ellie and us!
Love, Ms. Ariana
