Dear SGAC Friend,

The Diversity and Gender Equality Project Group is very happy to announce the publication of the second and third episodes of the Our Giant Leap Podcast!

The second episode, titled
"Changing Orbits: How to Enter Space from a Different Domain" features an interview with Laura Yvonne Zielinski, an associate at Holland & Knight in Mexico City and the founder of the Space Arbitration Association. The Space Arbitration Association has the objective of creating room for interaction between the international arbitration domain and space communities.

The third episode approaches the topics of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Space Domain, particularly in the NewSpace. Titled "Igniting Innovation - How Entrepreneurs are Changing the Space Domain" and starring Irene Selvanathan, Founder of NEUROSPACE, our podcast team discusses Irene's inspiring story towards creating a cutting-edge tech company

Both episodes are now out on the SGAC Spotify and YouTube accounts!

In the second episode, we discussed how to enter the Space domain coming from a different one - specifically the legal domain.

First we introduced our guest, Laura Yvonne Zielinski, then we talked about her career and how she got into Space Arbitration (what is it exactly? why are space related disputes resolved by arbitration? is space law well established?). Afterwards, Laura Yvonne presented the Space Arbitration Association she founded in Mexico: what is its purpose, and who can join.

We also had the pleasure of having our own Laura, Laura Luhmann from the Our Giant Leap Podcast team, present the fun fact segment - during which we learned about May Jemison, the first afro-american astronaut!

Finally, we chatted with our guest about diversity in the space industry and what can be done to enhance the current situation.

In the third episode, we had the chance to exchange with another inspiring space woman figure! And discussed innovation and entrepreneurship in the Space Domain, particularly in the NewSpace.

First we introduced our guest, Irene Selvanathan, then we talked about her career and how she founded her company: NEUROSPACE (What was her motivation for starting her own company, what is NEUROSPACE developing in the Newspace?).

After that, our guest gave great advice for people interested in entering the aerospace industry. Irene also talked about the key points of her studies.

We also discussed management and how to build a skill set for entrepreneurship.

To continue on the topic of women in the space sector, Jaclyn (from the podcast team) told a funny (and quite ridiculous!) story regarding one of Sally Ride's missions - Sally Ride was the first American woman to fly in space!

Finally, we chatted with Irene about diversity in the space sector and what can be done to push for more inclusivity in this industry.

Created within the scope of the Diversity and Gender Equality Project Group, the goal of the #OurGiantLeapPodcast is to educate and raise awareness on the topics of diversity and gender equality in the space industry. It also aims at bringing visibility to professionals from the space sector, by letting them become potential future role models for the audience. In addition, the idea is to come up with tangible outcomes for the audience, as takeaways.
We hope you will find here advice and tools to implement in your everyday life and workplace!
