Good morning,

Have you checked your Fire Hazard Reduction Notice? In a bid to prepare private properties in time for the approaching bushfire season, all properties that are not prepared in accordance with the Fire Hazard Reduction Notice will incur a fine as of 1 November 2022. There will be no grace period for infringements issued against properties not adequately prepared for bushfire season.

We’ve seen the devastating impacts of bushfire both here in WA and on the east coast in recent years and The City is continuing to work with community to ensure we are all as prepared as possible.

Research shows preparedness improves the resilience of the community. When people feel empowered to plan for emergency events, we see much better outcomes. The reality is it takes a whole of community approach and we all need to do our bit.

We're in this Together!

Teams have been out slashing long grass, undertaking mitigation and controlled burns, along with our amazing Volunteer brigades to get ready for the upcoming season. This will continue as we head into this years Fire Season.

Residents are encouraged to download the DFES MyBushfirePlan app to start their preparedness journey. Your household should have an emergency kit packed and ready to go if you need to leave your home for a safer location. Remember to also think about your pets.

Residents are also reminded to ensure they understand the fire notice and what is required on private properties.

The Walliston Transfer Station is free for unlimited green waste for residents and the City provides a skip bin service where residents can access a minimum of three skip bins each financial year to assist with removal of green waste and general household rubbish.

Any one with questions is also encouraged to reach out and have a chat with team on 9257 9999 or email kaya@kalamunda.wa.gov.au and we will get back to you.

Please ensure you are aware of all requirements and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us - we are here to help!
