Dear FNAME,

We have five young patients in Timor-Leste who urgently need heart surgery. Will you be able to help transform their lives?

These patients face debilitating illness, disability and premature death if they do not receive surgery urgently. The longer they must wait, the worse their condition will get. With no access to local cardiac surgery, patients are relying on us for help.

It is vital that we treat these patients within the next few months. Any longer and their health will deteriorate too far to operate.

Help give 5 patients life-saving heart surgery

Our team is working hard to arrange the surgery needed and we have cardiac surgeons ready to volunteer to operate on the patients. But we need your help to get patients from Timor-Leste to Australia and provide them the care they need.

Donate Now

East Timor Hearts Fund relies on the support of our donors and incredible volunteers such as our cardiologists. We do not receive any funding from governments.

If you can, please donate to our Operation Heartbeat appeal today to provide the surgery these patients desperately need.

How your donation helps:

  • $50 can contribute towards flights for a patient.

  • $100 can provide medicine for a patient.

  • $350 can provide on ground transport for a patient.

  • $750 can provide preflight medical tests for a patient.

Rheumatic heart disease is life-threatening but can be easily prevented and treated. Since 2020 East Timor Hearts Fund has been partnering with health organisations in Timor-Leste to prevent and treat it. We tackle the root causes of poor heart health in Timor-Leste with research, education, diagnosis and prevention programs. We also provide urgent treatment for the most critical patients.

Give more patients like Maria a chance for life

Please help give more patients like Maria the chance for a brighter, healthier future.

Maria suffered from severe rheumatic heart valve disease since childhood and it caused her pain just to breathe. She suffered a heart failure when she was seven months pregnant, putting her life and her unborn twins at risk.

Fortunately thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Maria received heart surgery in Australia in May. She's now enjoying doing the simple things we take for granted, like caring for her children. Maria also recently celebrated her 35th birthday - a milestone that she wasn't sure she would see.

Donate Now

Your support saves lives. If you can please donate to our Operation Heartbeat appeal and help more patients to receive critical surgery.

Thank you for your generous support.
