WE Bike a Long Ride!! (Rapha Trip to Kensico Dam)
Sun, Sept 18, 2022
8:00AM EDT
Columbus Circle USS Maine Monument,
Manhattan, southwest corner of Central Park
New York, NY
RSVP

Join WE Bike NYC for a longer/intermediate out-&-back ride to the Kensico Dam.

This September 18th, Rapha aims to connect thousands of female cyclists around the world in a bid to get as many women to ride 100km as possible.

WE Bike NYC is offering a "Roadie Lite" option that will cover ~65 miles (100km) round trip. We are going to Kensico Dam in Valhalla, NY! WE'll bike through the city to the South County Trail, then take a suburban road to the Bronx River Parkway Trail, which will take us to our destination. It's a great way to join the Rapha 100!

This is an INTERMEDIATE ride. We will keep an average pace of 12 mph. If one of the below apply to you, this is your ride:

- 65 miles is a goal you're working toward

- You've done a single day ride of 50 miles or more, and/or

- Over the course of a week, you ride 60+ miles.

If you're not sure, please reach out! The Facebook event page is the perfect place to feel it out and exchange ideas with other female riders on how to rock the distance.

We do NOT require road bikes or foot retention for this ride, and most bikes should do fine as long as they're in good working order. (Hybrids, road, touring, cross, etc.) A folding bike will be a little more challenging, but if you've done a longer-distance ride on your foldable before, that should work fine as well. However, cruisers with coaster brakes are not appropriate for this ride and, unless you're used to riding long distances without gears, single-speeds in general are not recommended.

What to bring: 2 water bottles, SNACKS!!!, flat-changing kit, sunscreen, cash for lunch (or feel free to bring your own lunch!), and a helmet.

Note: This ride is open to women, female-identifying and gender nonconforming people only.
