A message from the board of directors
As we prepare for the 2022 season with another exciting and inspiring time of collecting, cleaning, and donating bikes, we would like to take a moment to say goodbye to Tia Martinson and acknowledge all her hard work and dedication over the last 6 years with FB4KMN.  She became our first full-time executive director, took us through the tough times of COVID, the beginning of Ironman as a FB4KMN event and oversaw the donation of thousands and thousands of bikes to kids in need.  So many kids are living healthier and more exciting lives by riding their bikes because of Tia’s hard work. We wish Tia all the best in the next chapter of her journey.

As we say goodbye to Tia, and continue our search for a permanent ED, we want to warmly welcome our new Interim Executive Director, Andy Quandt.  Andy comes to us as the founder and ED of the Madison, Wisconsin chapter of FB4K. He has always been a hard working, dedicated member of our FB4K  family, and we are happy to have him here for this season.

Even though this is a season of leadership change for FB4KMN, our mission and guiding vision remain constant: with your help, we will empower more kids to ride into a happier, healthier future.

All the best-
Maureen Vischer
Vice Chair Board of Directors

Volunteers needed!

The team at Free Bikes 4 Kidz Minnesota is assembling. We don’t yet have a definite new home for our 2022 season (but plans are in the works!), so we’re mostly working virtually to get all our ducks…er, BIKES in a row for a successful season.

Our new volunteer coordinator, David Zeller, has our volunteer calendar up and ready for October and November, so as you’re looking ahead to a terrific fall, please consider signing up to work a cleaner, prepper or mechanic shift with us. Got a contact for a group? Reach out to David here, and he’ll find a time to accommodate your team, friend group, co-workers, faith community, and more.

Before we can really get going on our regular season though, we need to host a successful Collection Day! Our presenting sponsor, Allina Health, is once again helping us collect 1,000s of bikes in a single day: Saturday, October 8. We need volunteers to help unload and sort all those bikes as they come in, and you can sign up here. Know someone with a gently-used, rider-ready bike to donate? You can direct them to Allina’s website to see a list of locations that will be accepting bikes on October 8.

It costs Free Bikes 4 Kidz Minnesota about $35 to collect, clean, refurbish, and distribute a bike. When you donate, you make it possible for more children to receive bikes and access the health benefits, freedom, and FUN that a bike allows. Thank you for your generosity!

Volunteer now!
Calling Nonprofit Partners
Do you work for or with a non-profit organization that serves families and children? We’re always looking to expand our partnerships with organizations that can help us connect our bikes with the children who need them. Partners can request bikes in any sizes and quantities, and we will do our best to get you the bikes you need. You can fill out an application on our website before the end of September and receive bikes in late November - early December. Questions? Please reach out to our new bike recipient coordinator, Kirk Dann.
(Almost!) Updated COVID Policy
We’re planning for a much more “normal” season in the warehouse this fall, while recognizing that the pandemic is on-going and still poses risks for our community. We’re in the process of updating our COVID policy for staff and volunteers. Very soon, you’ll find the specifics on our website, and volunteers will get information as they sign up. Thanks for your help in keeping our volunteers, staff, and wider community as safe as possible!

Thank You To Our Sponsors
