- Our annual Volunteer Training event is coming up on Sunday, September 25 at 12:15 in the youth building. This is a required event for all current and potential volunteers to learn all things KidZone. Food, fun, and awards are to be expected, and childcare will be provided. - Mark your calendars for UCC:One, which will be on October 2 in City Park at 10:30, and plan to bring a friend! We'll have fun activities for all ages and will hold one worship service. Lunch will be provided as well! We hope to see you (and a friend) there as we enjoy worshipping as one body of Christ.
OVERVIEW: Our true story from the Bible this week is about a man named Gideon. Gideon was afraid because there were people taking away his family’s sheep and their food and even where they lived! One day, Gideon was so afraid that he hid in a hole. Gideon thought that if he hid in a hole, the people couldn’t see his food and take it away. God loved Gideon. God knew Gideon was afraid and hiding in a hole. God sent an angel to tell Gideon, “The Lord is with you!” Gideon felt better after he talked to God. When we are afraid, we can talk to God, too. We can always talk to God about everything because God loves us no matter what. Who loves you no matter what? [Bottom Line] God loves me no matter what!
DEVOTIONAL: This week, we’ll take a look at Gideon, a guy who was so afraid he was actually in hiding when God sent an angel to deliver a special message. Gideon learned that he could trust God even when he was afraid. Our little ones have fears too. Let’s help them understand that when they are afraid, they can put their trust in a God who loves them no matter what. If you face a moment of doubt or fear this week (because even grown-ups get scared sometimes) stop and repeat our verse for this month: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5. Then thank God for his great big love for you as you remember that [Bottom Line] God loves me no matter what.
