Registration is now open for the teenage reporter workshop

During October, Chicos.net will hold a workshop to train teenage reporters from Latin America to cover and produce content during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27).

The purpose of the workshop "Telling the world through our eyes 2022" is
to empower adolescents  so they are able to explain their peers what is happening at COP 27 in real time. To achieve this, during the months of October and November participants from different Latin American countries will receive training in media tools and the topics to be discussed at COP 27.

During the Conference, they will be accompanied in the creation of informative capsules on the most relevant events. The contents developed will be reviewed and edited by journalists to ensure the quality of the final products.

We learned about the work with children of the organizations Fundacion Creciendo Unidos and Fundacion Pequeño Trabajador from Colombia.

Roberto Torres and Andrés Gómez, members of the PASC team in LAC, visited the organizations Fundación Creciendo Unidos and Fundación del Pequeño Trabajador both from Colombia, which are members of the Latin American and Caribbean Working Children and Adolescents Movement (MOLACNATS, for its acronym in Spanish). The children, adolescents and young workers shared about life in their neighbourhoods, the problems that affect them and the lessons they learn every day in their role as activists for their rights.

The organization Fundación del Pequeño Trabajador shared about the integration process of the children and adolescents to their work. Their main pillars are the art,  a methodology based on empathy with nature, actions for financial sustainability and life projects for children. In their empowerment process, children and adolescents take responsibilities progressively and lead the support to their peers.

On the other hand, the organization Fundación Creciendo Unidos shared its work with children on the solidarity border in Cúcuta, which includes the children and adolescents process of self-knowledge as social subjects of rights, and the democratic processes of the delegates in each sector in which they work for ensuring that the voices of all working children and adolescents are heard.
