High Holidays Appeal - Please help us with our important work

Erev Rosh Hashana 5783 / September 2022

Dearest Friends,

Shalom u-vracha.

I hope that you and your family are all in good health, as we approach the end of another challenging year across the entire world.

As you are reading this personal letter from me, I know that you receive my regular essays and am confident that you continue to be inspired by them.

In advance of the High Holidays, I have no choice but to ask for your urgent assistance. Unfortunately, due to various issues (including some personal ones), I am still unable to travel overseas to raise funds for the David Cardozo Academy. Consequently, we cannot currently maintain the staff we had in the past, thus requiring me to assume more personal responsibilities. This reality limits the time I would normally spend on writing, teaching, and counseling.

I know you are acquainted with my work, and many of you tell me how much you benefit from my writings and teachings. I am especially grateful to all those who have commented on my essays on social media and helped me hone my ideas. This exchange has been mutually beneficial.

As I have mentioned in the past, my essays are being read by a great number of people, of all ages and all affiliations, via email, Facebook, the Times of Israel, the Jerusalem Post, as well as other digital and print media.

I am pleased to report that as a result of an overwhelming number of requests, and with grateful thanks to a very generous benefactor, a Hebrew translation of my book “Jewish Law as Rebellion, A Plea for Religious Authenticity and Halachic Courage” is nearing completion and we look forward to its publication in the coming year.

With your help, I also look forward to completing my series “Cardozo on the Parashah” (Bereshit and Shemot can be ordered through our office or via the website here), as well as proceeding with books about the Jewish Festivals and Fast Days.

Thanks to your generosity last year, the David Cardozo Academy was able to continue with its mission. I hope that you will respond in a similar way this year, enabling the Academy to continue its important work and to embark upon new projects too.

Please assist us via the links below - every contribution, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible.

Wishing you all a Shana Tova and a healthy, peaceful year ahead.

With very grateful thanks,
