Feels like Fall, the calendar says Summer!
Did you know there are two measures of the seasonal changes?
There are two calendars to follow ...
the astronomical & the meteorlogical.
Seems to me it is what the weather says!
Anyhow ... here's an interesting link ~
When Do the Seasons Start?
Our Halloween Trunk Show from Forbidden Fiber Co. is scheduled to ship by next Wednesday, September 14, for a two week visit! Leann is including her new "Hocus Pocus" (minis & full skeins!), as well as available skeins of "A Discovery of Witches", "The Worst Witch", and "iZombie" ... and a few cross-stitch kits!  We'll post on Instagram & Facebook when we get these in ... this is always so much fun! We'll have Halloweenie treats, and who knows, maybe a door prize or two for all our shoppers!
If it is beginning to feel like fall, you have to know it's time for Stephen West's annual Mystery Knit Along! The time of year when I spend hours in the shop saying, 'You can do this combo' or 'Oooh, I like it' or maybe 'No, lose the hot pink'. Here's the link to his Ravelry pattern page ... and I'd recommend that you watch his 'choosing your colors' video, as well as joining the FB group for the Westknits MKAL 2022. This year's shawl is 'Twists & Turns' (we can hook you up with the pattern through the shop ~ it is roughly $6, depending on the exchange rate that day!). Then come in & let us help you color shop (that's half the fun)!

Also, we will be putting together several combos & pricing on Instagram & Facebook in the next couple of days, and we are glad to ship (US only, please).

The first clue drops on Thursday, October 6 ~ so you have a couple of weeks to stash dive & come purchase the companions!

(Pretty sure I'm happy with these skeins, pictured below ... but hey, I've changed my mind three times so far, so who knows!
We've long been fans of Ambah O'Brien; her shawl patterns are just a delight. She is releasing a complete collection of her "Ambah X Halloween" tomorrow, September 9. While some of the patterns are currently available on Ravelry, new ones will be available tomorrow. Having been lusting over her "Moon Flowers Shawl" since it showed up as a test knit, I already have my yarn at the ready! (And if you're a Halloween lover ~ and a lot of you are! ~ her "The Ghost Knitter's Shawl" is pretty cool, too!) Just remember, these won't be released until tomorrow (Australian time ~ which means, don't know when, just sometime tomorrow) ... please check back, then come see us!

Here's a little bio Ambah posted on her Ravelry page:
"With a background in painting, Ambah has a passion for colour and interesting design. Making has always been her happy place since she was a girl surrounded by the chaos of her mother’s textile art and design - she had a huge basket of fabric scraps that Ambah could literally dive into. She is a relative latecomer to knitting; having been taught by her dear son in 2012 who was 8 at the time and very particular with his insistence that she fix her mistakes. In knitting Ambah has found a craft that resonates deeply within, through the slow stitching of knitting she has found a way to express her creativity, make practical items and enjoys the additional soul-soothing benefits knitting provides. To her surprise, Ambah’s new found obsession quickly turned to designing; when searches for patterns to fit the vision in her mind were unsuccessful she began to create her own. Influenced by everything around her; fashion, nature, hand-dyed yarn, art, Ambah’s designs are straight forward to make, size inclusive, wearable and enable knitters to express their own creativity through their choice of colour. When not designing she’ll be wandering about her vegetable garden, sewing, thrifting or going for a beach ramble having recently relocated to the coast in Southern Victoria."

No matter what seasonal calendar you go by, I've been digging & planting ~ there is just something about both fall and spring that makes me want to get my hands in the earth. (Summer, not so much.) Sunday we went to the Beacon in Bon Aqua for breakfast, then stopped by Tractor Supply for potting soil, pots, and plants. I came home with this sweet little rooster planter & lovely "Little Lime Punch" hydrangea! Happy, happy (or "How We Spent Labor Day Weekend)!
Shop hours are 10-2, Tuesday-Saturday (special appointments available, just ask). Shop phone is 615.952.0110. Hope to see you again soon, and we thank you for your support!
