XC Season starts in fine style at Farringdon!
Our juniors started the XC season in style last weekend, with a great turnout and superb results at the Farringdon XC Relays. Lauren Creaby produced a fantastic run to take 2nd place in the U15 girls race, with Niamh coming home 14th in what was a very strong field. Luke Stewart had a great race, finishing 16th U15 boy, whilst we had no fewer than 3 boys in the U13 race. Frankie Foster starred with a brilliant 4th place in a time of 10:54, whilst Jamie Floyd and George Bryce crossed the line together for 13th and 14th places.

Cross Country season is now here. Harrier League fixtures can be seen in the fixture list below. Its free to take part for our members. If you wish to be registered for the season, just contact Ralph Dickinson, or ask a coach if you have any questions.

At our local parkruns this weekend, Liliana was 7th, Elliot 10th, and Jack 66th at Whitley Bay. At South Beach, Frankie capped a busy weekend with a 1st place, with Oliver 2nd on his first attempt on this course. Fantastic work from all! It would be great to see our juniors give South Beach parkrun a go, its partly organised by Blyth members, and is a great way for us to encourage young people from Blyth to become more active. Google "South Beach Junior Parkrun" to find out more.

Its a busy few weeks ahead. This Friday is the Friday night Quadrathlon. Last chance to get your name down to participate is TONIGHT! We also need lots of volunteers. Contact Dan if you can help! This wekeend is GNR weekend, make sure you let us know how you get on if you are doing the Junior Great North Run! Next Wednesday is the sprint relays. We would love to have more involved. We need 4 x U13/U15 boys to make a boys team. We would also love 1 or 2 more U11 (boys or girls) or U13 (girls) to make our squad even stronger. This event is FREE to paid up members. Contact Dan ASAP if you want to get involved.

We would love you to be part of the team! We also need a team manager!

MASSIVE PLEA FOR HELP FROM OUR PARENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
