Look on the bright side
The future is coming

These days, there's a lot to worry about. Global warming in the long term, nuclear apocalypse in the short term, the decay of civl rights in the meantime. It's just. Too. Much.
But here we are again, putting together a newsletter about immersive in Denver. And month after month, we keep finding reasons to say: Yay!
Whatever else is happening in the world, we are a community that wants to change it for the better. We want to delight people, amuse them, challenge them and teach them empathy. We want spectacle and intimacy. We like it with blinding sparkles and when you can see the sweat. Best of all, we are a city of dreamers and thinkers, producers and makers that know how to get it done.
Yay.
In about 8 weeks, we will all get together in Denver, have a few drinks, engage in some real conversation and conspire to take over the world with joy and wonder and love and relevance and anything else that seems worth pursuing. We will continue designing the future we want to live in. And we can't wait.
So, yeah, yay. We are feeling pretty optimistic right now. We hope to share a little of that with you too.
(And we hope to see you in Denver!)

You wake up in a room. At first it looks like any other waiting room that you’ve seen in your life but as your eyes adjust a big colorful banner comes into focus:
We are all dead.
You start to panic and your life flashes before your eyes.
Regret.
Shame.
Sadness.
Fear.
The room starts to look less and less like a waiting room as the walls slowly close in. That's when you see it- a door. You approach it as it slowly opens.
Do you dare to walk in?

The theme of the Denver Immersive Gathering is "building an immersive city." And while we like to think of that as an organic, grassroots thing led by local talent and creativity, we have to be fair. A good bit of the Denver immersive fabric is coming in from out of town.
Immersive King Tut has landed in Denver bringing the same kind of sensorial delights of Immersive Van Gough.
And coming soon: The Immersive Nutcracker: A Winter Miracle, another spin on immersive projections of well-known properties.
We've also got the robot thrills of Jurassic World: The Exhibition and even a Squid Game recreation at Immersive Gamebox.
And let's not forget Pixar Putt, an animation inspired mini-golf which we are gonna lump in with immersive because we can.
Now it's easy to get bent out of shape about these mass market enterprises leaning on the good name of immersive. But consider this: These productions are drawing crowds and setting expectations for immersive. And if the local scene wants a seat at the table, the reality is, we are going to have to compete on the basis of creativity and production value. The national market has found Denver. Time for Denver to show what it can do in return.
