In our campaign to block the Lippa Quarry, we have received strong support from the current Township of Muskoka Lakes Council. The Lippa Quarry application might have been successful without this support. However, the battle is far from over, and a new council will be elected on October 24. It is crucial that members of the new council, are also committed to protecting our lakes, and their watersheds, from the threats of proposed developments, such as the Lippa Quarry.
Your vote is needed! The Muskoka Lakes Association and The Friends of Muskoka, have prepared an excellent website, Vote4Muskoka.ca that explains voter eligibility, how to register and the voting process. They have also endorsed a list of candidates, who they believe will do the best job of caring for our natural environment today, and providing a framework for responsible management in the future.
Please prepare now, so that you will be ready to vote on October 24.
