Encourage students to explore engineering careers this academic year
Over 100,000 children are seeking understanding and advice on what a career in engineering offers this academic year. The Engineers Ireland STEPS programme is calling on you, our members, to support these students and help increase awareness of engineering as a future career.
Volunteering with STEPS is easy; the team has everything you need to get started.
Here are three ways you can lend your support this academic year:
- STEPS Young Engineers Award
The STEPS Young Engineers Award is a competition open to all third-and fourth-class primary school students in Ireland. Members are encouraged to sign up to become an engineering role model and to visit a class (online) on the week of 21 November.
To get involved and to sign-up for a training workshop, visit our website, here.
- STEPS Engineering Your Future
The STEPS Engineering Your Future programme offers Transition Year students work experience at third-level or with industry partners. The STEPS team is now calling on engineering organisations to become industry collaborators and to host a group of Transition Year students over three to five days.
If your organisation would like to encourage and educate future generations of engineers through the STEPS Engineering Your Future Programme, please contact steps@engineersireland.ie.
- STEPS Engineers Week
STEPS Engineers Week gives children the opportunity to discover engineering, facilitated by their teachers, parents, and local community. STEPS Engineers Week will take place next year from Saturday, 4 - Friday, 10 March 2023. Support children in your local community to explore the exciting world of engineering by adopting a school and delivering an engineering activity.
Sign up today to the STEPS mailing list to receive information about STEPS Engineers Week 2023
As mentioned earlier, volunteering with STEPS is easy. The team here at Engineers Ireland has everything you need to get started. To find out more about what STEPS does and how you can get involved, visit our website, here.
Engineers Ireland's STEPS programme is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science and industry leaders Arup, the EPA, ESB, Intel, and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
