Sometimes even more than the words you use. Research attests to this. Think about it: we were communicating with voice long before we had words and language to express ourselves with. It's more primal.
That's why having a pleasant, strong, flexible voice matters. Your listeners aren't always aware of why they're left with the impression they have of you. It's the signals in your voice that can give you away.
Is there a hesitancy? A flatness that connotes disinterest (or blase lack of confidence)? A repetitive pattern that is distracting from your message? A tonal quality that grates or detracts from your overall impact? Or one that just doesn't instill confidence?
These voice qualities and habits can all be changed or unlearned, with new ones replacing them. These new habits will most likely impact every aspect of your life. (Honestly, not an understatement.)
Join me on Wednesday at 4 pm EST online, when we'll talk about how you can find a balanced, pleasant-sounding, confident, comfortable voice. We'll focus on tonal quality and intonation--voice quality and expressiveness. We'll also talk about finding the right voice for the job.
