“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:1-2)

We have a lot going on in our wonderful church buildings on Sunday mornings between services. Please join us. We have a fellowship coffee and cookie hour, we have Kids Connection Sunday school, we have confirmation classes, and we have three adult Bible study classes going on.

Stay at church a little longer or come a little bit early and fellowship with your Christian brothers and sisters. Build up your knowledge of Jesus’s teachings to give you the ability to reach out to the non-churched and to stand up for the Christian religion.

“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.”
(Ephesians 4:11-14)

It's finally here!  This Sunday is the Discipleship Rally Worship and Picnic!
The fall Sunday morning Christian education season is kicking off with a Rally Day Picnic on September 11 after the single 10:30 AM Sunday morning worship service. Fall classes and Bible studies for children, youth, and adults begin Sunday, September 18.

All members and all neighbors are welcome to attend the picnic. It is being held in the patio area beside the school building. Just bring yourself! Food and drinks and fellowship will ensue. There will be a bouncy house for kids and corn hole games for the adults. There will be a ministry fair where you can learn more about Christian education and social ministry opportunities. Contact Debbie Schellman (schellman4@reagan.com) if you wish to participate with a display in the fair.

Please use the following sign-up genius to let us know approximately how many people will be attending the picnic. Click here to RSVP.  The sign-up genius also includes the ability to volunteer to help set up and/or take down the picnic facilities. You can also talk to Jonathan Cain (jcain1280@gmail.com) if you wish to help with set up or take down.
Me! Me! I'm coming to the picnic! (RSVP)

Taste of Habitat Fundraiser to Support Home Builds in the Greater Northern Atlanta Area

Since 1995, Faith Lutheran Church has been a member of the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity in the northern Atlanta metropolitan region. Faith has participated with other Lutheran churches in the area in the building of over 30 houses for poor families.

Building of new homes will begin again in late fall or early winter 2022. Our big fundraising event to support the builds is coming up. The 18th Annual Taste of Habitat is being held on
Friday, September 16, from 7 – 9 PM at The Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta.

The event has food, drinks, live music, a silent auction, and a trivia contest. There will be over 50 different “tastes” you can try from congregation member church chefs. Faith has seven chefs cooking this year! Tickets to attend are $25 and can be picked up at the door or contact Gary Schleicher at garyandkim23@outlook.com or 908-339-7180.
Social Ministry

Mission of the Month

This month we will be collecting our chapel offering to support the Lutheran Braille Workers. This organization does so much here are just a few highlights:

  • Christian materials and Bibles in Braille are freely provided in English, Spanish, and 14 other languages to people who are Blind or Visually Impaired throughout the world.

  • Christian materials in English are provided via DTB cartridges free of charge to recipients in the United States (no orders accepted in other countries).

  • Christian materials and Bibles in Specialized Large Print are freely provided in English, Spanish, and 11 other languages to people who are Visually Impaired.

On Wednesday, September 21st during both chapel services, Daniel Jemkins will be here to share about this ministry as it connects with Making Disciples for Life. One of our sister churches, Rivercliff Lutheran, in Sandy Springs, helps print materials for this organization. Thank you for your chapel offerings as they help support the sharing of God’s love to those here at home and around the world.

Faith's Food Pantry

Thank you so much Faith family. With your contributions and help from our community of Pantry Friends we were able to deliver 212 food bags to Brumby the end of August. The families were so appreciative to see the bags which also included hotdogs and buns for the Labor Day weekend. Amazing!

Our next goal for September is making more food bags to be delivered September 27th, which is Fall break. These bags will be breakfast and lunch items since the kids will not be getting breakfast and lunch at school. Thanks to everyone for your support of the pantry. The weekly community distribution at Brumby has climbed to over 200 families weekly with 16 new families this week. The Brumby team sees new families every week as the need for this support continues to grow.

One of the families in line this week told one of the volunteers how much they appreciated our bags last week. They had gotten a bag for their family and a 75-year-old neighbor that had no money for food. This weekly distribution is really making a difference in our community.

The below are advertised grocery prices for Publix, Kroger, and Walmart. The sales ads run from September 7th through September 13th.

The pantry needs peanut butter, jelly, corn bread mix (Jiffy, etc.), Tuna Helper, canned vegetables (corn, peas, black beans, and baked beans), pasta, pasta sauce, and canned soups as our shelves are mostly bare of these items due to the bags that went out the end of August. All of the peanut butter, jelly, cereal, and breakfast items we have now will be going in the September bags.

Hope's Happenings
I have been a busy girl this summer!  Last month I visited 25 different places giving comfort to people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and Cobb County Courts.  It's tiring work, but I love giving love to other people.  I even got to rest a little with this sweet friend at Kennestone Hospital!  Next week I'm doing it again at Windy Hill Hospital.

P.S.  I could use some extra human help to join me on visits.  Do you have an hour or two a month when you can join me to share the love of Jesus to people who are suffering and in need?  If so, please give Peter Amelingmeier a call: 770-876-4292, or email him: armormaker@comcast.net
