Fishing Report
We made it back from 6 weeks in the cool North to sunny San Carlos. Our first stop at 10 at night was to pull my kayaks to higher ground. I was even lucky that they were still there from the swell before the storm hit. Things got a little messy as usual, but everything turned out pretty good, less one sailboat from the moorings. I freed one baby fish from an inland pond, but most all stayed in the sea. The sun is back and the shorelines are cleaning up.

I found a handful of reports from the week. Strangely, no billfish are being found. A couple boats tried jigging around the Island and Reef and found a Broomall Grouper, some sea bass, and Bonita. Reports were of some good yellowtail caught there. A friend saw Bonita while snorkeling along the coast. I didn't hear of anyone jigging off San Antonio. I think that it will be an early season for yellowtail and Bonita though.

I got a few reports came from closer to the other side, but they weren't much better. I think that any mention of 'big Dorado' lately is back to being 15 pounds, if not really 9 - 12 pounds. There are a lot of small females out there. I saw plenty of debris from Kay, but I didn't hear of any offshore. Baja took an unfortunate beating. I believe that some better Dorado will return as the water cools and the bait becomes even more plentiful.

There is some unproductive green water out there, but the blue water looks to be coming back. La Niña and the storms have kept it cool. A friend caught 3 of 5 15 pound tuna 6 miles out a couple weeks ago. Things are going to start happening soon. We might see something form early next week, but it's looking like a lot of dry cool westerly air over relatively 'cool' water in the forecast. We might soon be thinking about Fall.

New Pickleball Courts Coming Soon - please help

You can help us build a beautiful 14 court pickleball facility here in sunny San Carlos.

The San Carlos Pickleball Association is building a world-class 14-court pickleball facility that will be the biggest and best pickleball complex in Latin America.

We don't have any government funding and we need your help to make this dream a reality. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Even if you don't (yet) play pickleball, this is a great Community Project and something that San Carlos can be proud of. Aside from being a place for exercise, fun and friendship and being a community hub, our goal is to be designated the Mexican National Pickleball Training Facility, supporting athletes of all generations.

We've created a GoFundMe campaignPlease donate now. Every little bit helps. Thank you in advance.

The Grand Opening will be on November 1, 2022. Hope to see you there!

Please get in touch with me (Christa Thomas) at: christa@whatsupsancarlos.com if you would like to donate a more significant amount. We have several court sponsorships and commemorative bricks of various levels that recognize the donations that went above and beyond to make this project a success. You can have your name or business name on a court or on the sponsors' wall. You can read more about it on our website.
