Only a few seats remain for the MicroGrant Dinner


Tickets are selling fast for the upcoming MicroGrant Dinner on Sept. 29 at West End Architectural Salvage. 

What is a MicroGrant Dinner? It is a ticketed event where five artists will share their idea in a PechaKucha-style presentation. After experiencing each idea, the audience votes on their favorite. The artist with the popular vote takes home the proceeds generated from ticket sales as a microgrant to accelerate their project.

Tickets are $35 each and include dinner, non-alcoholic beverages and each ticket contributes dollars towards the microgrant. A cash bar will also be available.

The Des Moines Arts Festival is seeking artists working in the earth arts medium to sell their work at the inaugural Wine & Clay on November 12. 

The show is open to individuals working in, but not limited to, clay, wood, fiber and glass, as well as artists who feature the earth arts in other mediums. This could include a photographer or painter who focuses on natural landscapes or elements.

Celebrating Student Artists

The Des Moines Arts Festival recently celebrated the students and teachers who participated in the 2022 Student Art Exhibition presented by GreenState Credit Union.

These student artists had their work displayed at the 2022 Des Moines Arts Festival presented by Nationwide. Following the Festival, the artwork was featured at area GreenState Credit Unions. At the reception, the students were finally able to take their art home to enjoy.

A big thanks to the community of art teachers for their work in supporting the student artists and sharing their work with us. This program wouldn't be possible without you!

Community Support Advocates presents Momentum: Works of Growth and Recovery. This annual event features artists impacted by disabilities. The submitted artwork is now going through a jury process and the selected pieces will be displayed at Mainframe Studios on October 7 from 5 - 8 p.m.

Visit Olson-Larson Galleries' OL Guild in Valley Junction this Saturday, Sept. 10 from 1 - 4 p.m. for the final open house for artist Betsy Hart's immersive art installation - You Are The Warm Yellow Light Pouring All Around Me. This installation places the view in an abstracted, physical sanctuary of the feelings, processing and hope involved in the emotional experience of healing.
