Watch a short video about the positive impact of MaineCF in Oxford County by supporting so many organizations, including Alan Day Community Garden.

MAINE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Friday, September 16
5:30-8pm

at Alan Day Community Garden
26 Whitman Street, Norway

Please join MaineCF, along with donors, grantees, and other community members to celebrate 25 years of grantmaking through the Oxford County Fund! We’ll gather rain or shine for wood-fired pizza and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

Parking is available behind Norway Grange, 15 Whitman Street. Please park and walk over. Parking is available at the Garden for those with difficulty walking and other reasons.

Garden to Table Update

We've got some new views at the Garden, and some new help! We are grateful to be joined by Luke from Maine Passive House who comes with years of experience and enthusiasm for the work. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us! We are hosting volunteer hours on Fridays from 1-4pm during September and we can use the help. We can also arrange for alternative times. We have parking for about 15 vehicles, so please feel free to drive in anytime when we are not hosting a large event. Parking on the street is not permitted by the town. Among our main financial supporters are Norway Savings Bank, Hancock Charitable Trust, Quimby Family Foundation, Hannaford Charitable Foundation, Sewall Foundation, Anthony Fratianne, and anonymous donors- we have raised $130K toward our $175K goal to complete the kitchen, deck, and two ADA accessible bathrooms. Please reach out if you are interested in supporting this community project with a donation, professional skills, or volunteer labor.
You can also make a donation directly through our website.
Restorative Community Training
Sunday, September 18th at 10am

A Restorative Community acknowledges and values the gifts that each individual brings to the table while also understanding each individual’s challenges. This is done within meetings, specific projects, or just a simple conversation on the street and fosters deeper connection and collaboration. This training is extremely useful for those who work daily with a diverse group of people. Learning the skills to listen to, and be heard by, your fellow community members in a mindful and respectful way is a productive step towards creating a healthier community together. Please contact Katey Branch to register for the event at kateysbranch@gmail.com or (207) 890-9622.

A free meal will be provided by Foothills Foodworks. Please park behind the Grange Hall and walk over if you are able. Otherwise, there is limited parking onsite. This free event will happen rain or shine. Please let us know if you plan to come, and we will look forward to hosting you!
September Volunteer Work Hours

We are back on for volunteer hours on Fridays from 1-4pm through September. Join Cyndy and/or Annie for some fall garden projects, or join the kitchen construction project with Wayne and Luke. Either way, we will look forward to having you join us!
Alan Day Community Garden is teaming up with Foothills Foodworks to offer free meals throughout the summer, on the first, second and fourth Thursday of the month, from 1-3pm. Anybody is welcome to stop by ADCG at 26 Whitman Street and pick up a locally sourced, locally created, healthy meal! Meals come ready to go and heat up in a nice little box. Check out Foothillls Foodworks on Facebook for the latest info on where and when else you can access these regular community meals.
