WE’RE MEETING WITH THE COUNTY!

Since early 2020, CRMPI has been undergoing a long and difficult process to receive a Special Use Permit with Eagle County (despite 38 years of teaching on the mountain!). Because of zoning changes, CRMPI is not allowed to teach classes on site until this permit is approved by the Roaring Fork planning committee and finally the Eagle County commissioners. Our meetings are scheduled, and we need your support!

There are 3 ways you can help get the permit approved:

  1. Be in person at the meeting with the planning committee on Thursday, June 2nd at 2:30pm at the El Jebel County Courthouse in support of CRMPI
  2. Email a letter of support to planningcomments@eaglecounty.us with the subject line “CRMPI SUP ZS-9170-2021” telling why you support education on site at CRMPI (please cc jerome@crmpi.org)
  3. Be in person at the meeting with the county commissioners on Monday, June 27th (time TBD) at the El Jebel County Courthouse in support of CRMPI

Furthermore, CRMPI is struggling to keep operations going while dealing with the SUP application and gearing up for Jerome's retirement transition. Outside support is necessary to continue operations, courses, and keep CRMPI on the map. The most immediate need is funding to support the livelihoods of permanent staff. This includes improved employee housing and contracted salaries to help with daily farm tasks, volunteer coordination, classes, marketing, and ongoing infrastructure improvements. Without consistent and reliable staff to help with these tasks, CRMPI will continue to face challenges without the structure to efficiently and effectively overcome them.

For decades, Jerome and the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute have shaken the ground of permaculture, offering the world’s longest running PDC program and inspiring environmental stewards all over the world. It’s time to give back. A generous donor has agreed to match up to $50,000 of public donations in support of CRMPI and Jerome’s transition. Please help us reach our goal!

Help the legacy continue - give CRMPI your support today.
