Last week some members of the WIS squad asked our industry experts, “How do I determine my rates as a freelancer?” Luckily Megan Reyes, social media & athlete branding strategist, on-camera & podcast host, influencer and content creator, was on hand with this useful answer:

“There is no one size fits all, it’s really about understanding your own value of time. Think of what you need to ideally make in a year to survive and live, work backwards and then get an understanding of rates that are worth your time…Early on I had imposter syndrome about asking for a specific rate, “because I’m new and they know that,” so I just took what was offered and was spread way too thin…Don’t work for rates that are less than what you feel comfortable with.”

Meg also recommends Meet Harlow, software for helping freelancers stay on top of rates, expenses and project organization.
