May 6, 2022

Thank you to all my fellow members of Cokesbury! You are wonderful and showed so much love to Pastor Sheila last Sunday with gifts and fantastic food for the picnic. You volunteered to set up, serve, clean up, and fellowship with all who came for the celebration. You worked so hard, and the SPR Committee and I think you are Super Persons! I treasure each of you, and I know Sheila also appreciated the celebration. Again, thank you!

Additionally, please join the Cokesbury SPR Committee and welcome Rev. Neil McDavid and Minta, who come to serve us during the transition of ministerial leadership. Many of you already know Pastor Neil from his time as lead pastor many years ago. He also delivered the message a couple of times when we had outside services during the worst part of the pandemic. Pastor Neil and Minta have visited us on Sundays in the past, and I know you will welcome them with love and grace during this time as they minister to us during Pastor Sheila’s absence.

Pastor Neil has served in Mobile, Gulf Shores, Pensacola, and numerous other churches in our Conference over the years and also worked at the Conference level. He has retired (but he stays busy) to Navarre with his beloved wife Minta out on Navarre Beach, sound-side. He and Minta are glad to be of help to us and bring the Word of God to us every Sunday at both services until Rev. Bobby Ellisor makes Cokesbury his home on July 1. Pastor Neil will be in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays to work with staff and plan services. If you have a pastoral need, please reach out to Genevieve in the church office, who can assist you.

Super Sale Update - God is Good – All the Time!

Super Sale 2022 is in the books, and what a wonderful, fun, and exhausting week of fellowship we had, making new friends and reconnecting with old friends. The Missions Committee is very grateful for your gifts of service, and we appreciate all of you!
  • Those who donated your treasures
  • Our outstanding youth and adults who transformed our campus by setting up tables on Sunday and returning to take them down on Saturday
  • Our dedicated volunteers who worked Monday tirelessly - Friday to pick up, distribute, sort, display, and price items
  • Our fantastic Boy Scouts troop who stayed overnight Friday to watch over our outside bargains
  • Those who brought biscuits for breakfast and those who made lunch on Saturday
  • Those who greeted our community with warm Cokesbury smiles
  • Those who shared our sale on social media
  • Those who supported us with your prayers and encouraging words
As our Scripture from 1 Corinthians 12:27 so wonderfully affirmed on Sunday:
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

Funds raised were just over $7,000, which, combined with your regular gifts to missions, will allow us to continue to provide monthly financial support to our local mission partners: Bright Bridge Ministries, Gulf Coast Kids House, Manna Food Pantries, and United Ministries. In addition, we are grateful to be able to assist our youth with their summer mission trip to Clinton, Mississippi, and to send a team to work with the Methodist Children’s Home in Costa Rica. All of this is made possible by YOU, and we want you to know that you are deeply loved and appreciated. Get ready – Super Sale 2023 is only 51 weeks away!

And all the time, God is good!,
