We welcome May with open arms as it brings sunnier days and warmer temperatures, which allows us all opportunities to spend time outdoors and celebrate the various Village events as a community. Naturally, we expect to see more bicyclists and motorcyclists around the Village area, so we encourage you to be courteous, share the road and drive safely.

If you don’t already know, this Saturday is the Run the Ridge 5K, which will be a great family-friendly and accessible event. All are welcome to register at Race Roster to participate! This month, we also look forward to honoring those who have bravely served our country with our annual Armed Forces Day Celebration at the Veterans Memorial on Saturday, May 21st. We hope to see you there!

We were delighted to honor the memory of Jack Schaus on the 150th Anniversary of Arbor Day with a ceremonial tree planting at the Veterans Memorial, with the Schaus family & Former Village Presidents Len Ruzak and Mickey Straub present. Thank you to everyone who participated.

A special thank you to those of you who have shared your valuable feedback with us through the Community Survey. We look forward to sharing the results with you soon.

Have a great Mother’s Day weekend ahead!

Concerts on the Green

It's that time of year again! The "Concerts on the Green" summer series is back. Burr Ridge Village Center & The Village of Burr Ridge bring you a variety of musical talent again this year with a selection of contemporary, rock, classic, jazz, southern rock and country bands to the annual Concerts on the Green each Thursday starting June 2nd - July 28th! Concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings. We look forward to another outstanding year of music, community, and fun at Burr Ridge Village Center. Check out the 2022 concert schedule here!

Safe Routes to School Grant Received

The Village has worked with Pleasantdale Middle School and Pleasantdale Park District to identify a funding solution to install a flashing pedestrian signal and related crossing improvements between Walker Park and the Middle School on Wolf Road. This safety upgrade is necessary due to the amount of pedestrian traffic that moves between these two community assets. The Village has been awarded $130,000 through the ComEd Safe Routes to School grant program. The Village will act as the coordinating agency for the three public agencies to manage the project. We look forward to this important safety upgrade being installed in the community!

Annual Street Maintenance

As part of our annual Road Program, the Village will be resurfacing streets throughout the Village starting in early May and should be completed by late July. This project will include milling, patching, and a fresh asphalt layer that results in a “new” street. Our Village is steadfast in planning and funding a cost-effective Road Program that keeps Burr Ridge “A Very Special Place”.

The Village is resurfacing the following street(s) this year:

  • 60th Place, Woodcreek Drive*, Woodcreek Court, Grant Court, 82nd Street, 89th Street*,
  • Cabernet Court, Longwood Drive, Lee Court

Road construction can be inconvenient, with frequent interruptions from crews and equipment, but the roads will remain open (*storm sewer replacement on Woodcreek Dr. and 89th St. will have scheduled, daytime-only closures). Please be cautious and drive slowly. Watch for “Fresh Oil” signs that tell you when an oily liquid needed for re-paving has been applied, because the oil can adhere briefly to your tires and track across your driveways.

Residents may experience minor traffic delays, increased dust, and some construction noise.

County Line Road Sidewalk

Construction is set to begin this month to construct the new sidewalk along County Line Road on its east side north of Longwood Drive by Katherine Legge Memorial Park. This project will replace the steel guardrail, form and pour the concrete sidewalk, upgrade the flashing pedestrian beacon, and conclude with the restoration of the parkway turf, ultimately opening for public use in Summer 2022.
