Join urban photographer and writer Lori-Ann Livingston and author Tanis MacDonald for a Sunday afternoon walk. Bring your smartphone to photograph everyday, ordinary things with a fresh perspective. Tanis will read excerpts from her new book, Straggle: The Adventures of Walking While Female. You'll never look at your neighbourhood the same again. Dress appropriately for the weather.
Local podcasters Sara & Marshall of Bonn Park (Waterloo) recorded a three-part series on the Mel Brown Festival & Symposium hosted in Waterloo Region in May. You may recall that Mel Brown is a BIG part of Glenn Smith's Kitchener Got the Blues walking tour!!

Get a sneak peek into Erb Grist Mill on Silver Lake. The City of Waterloo Museum and Built Heritage staff have collaborated to open the replica Abraham Erb Grist Mill on Saturday July 16.  Drop by to chat with Peggy Plet about Black History connections to the early days of what became Waterloo. Or, visit the Log School House in Waterloo Park during two Pop-Up Museum events - you might remember that the Log School House was the home of Levi Carroll, a Black resident of Berlin, Ontario featured on Peggy Plet's Black Presence in Berlin walking tour.

On our 60-minute version of Black Presence in Berlin, Peggy Plet includes a stop at the cenotaph in Downtown Kitchener to talk about segregation in the military and the history of the No. 2 Construction Battalion
Here's a cool story about descendants of these soldiers who are keeping the history alive by delivering photos of the men to legions.
