Upcoming Events
AAG Monthly Meeting
Monday May 9th

Please join us at 6:30 for social time followed by the meeting at 7:00.  We are delighted to have Katherine Larson as our presenter.  She will share with us strategies for selling your art.

She began making her living as an artist at an early age. She had not taken many of the traditional routes to an artistic career. During her 50 year career, she has been commissioned for over 200 murals across the United States from private homes to museums and hospitals to corporate headquarters. She has also illustrated ten nationally distributed children's books. Many of her paintings are in private and corporate collections, including several commissioned portraits for heads of universities, libraries and businesses. Her fine art paintings are mostly commissioned and sold before they are created.

Katherine is also a classical singer who has sung professionally with many major orchestras and opera companies. The full time pursuit of her visual arts and classical singing, has taken her to Germany and Italy to study at the Goethe Institute in Rothenburg and the British Institute in Florence. Her connections in the music world expanded her visual arts career through cross-marketing.

Although not applying for many competitions, Katherine has won several national awards and competitions including recently, the Blue Man Group’s “25 years of living in color” mural competition, Whole Foods Detroit Mural Competition and the Charlevoix Michigan Landmark Mural competition. Two artist-in-residencies in Michigan led to a rediscovery of plein air painting. Since moving to Vero Beach in 2021, Katherine has been devoting her time to creating a body of plein air paintings of local landmarks and distinctive flora and fauna from the Treasure Coast and forming a group of plein air painters who paint and exhibit together. She was recently featured in September of 2021 in VeroNews and 32963.
