Get to know your new AMA co-presidents
As we continue to celebrate Asia Week at Kellogg, Daybreak spoke with the incoming co-presidents of AMA, Vicky Wang (2Y '23) and Jeffrey Qiu (2Y '23) learn more about their thoughts on the week and goals for leading AMA.
What are some highlights Kellogg can look forward to this week?
We're really excited to be bringing a week full of events this year to kick off AAPI month! We hope to bring different aspects of Asian culture and various perspectives, and while all of them will be fantastic, here are a few highlights that we want to share:
- One Night in Asia! - Want to experience what it's like to have a night out in Asian culture? Come join us on Tuesday night to enjoy some Korean karaoke, beverages, and food! (SIGN UP)
- Hear My Story: Lunchbox Moment - Come and hear your peers tell stories that highlight the Asian and/or Asian American experience in America on Thursday. Hear My Story has always been a powerful moment for our peers to share their experiences and reflect, and we encourage the Kellogg community to join us. (SIGN UP)
- Keynote Speaker Panel - Champion Your Stories - How do you navigate your identity and career journey after Kellogg? In this session on Friday, we invited several accomplished members from the Asian community and Kellogg faculty to share with us their journeys in understanding and embracing their identity. (SIGN UP)
How are you working with other Asian-affinity clubs to plan this week?
Asia Week is a week to celebrate all Asian cultures, and we have been working with other Asian affinity clubs to make sure we incorporate different perspectives. On Wednesday, various regional clubs will be hosting small group dinners to share food from their cultures. We are also setting up a Night Market during TG featuring all Asian regional clubs to bring games and activities that represent their cultures to share with Kellogg!
What's one thing you hope participants take away from Asia Week?
We hope to share the idea that Asia is not a monolith. The Asian identity is comprised of a diverse set of communities and cultures that all have their own unique and exciting stories to share. We hope this week will demonstrate the amazing experiences that our community has to share with the school.
As incoming AMA co-presidents, what are you most excited about?
We are excited to continue supporting and unifying the Asian and AMA community here at Kellogg and work towards integrating our culture and traditions with the broader Kellogg community.
