Volunteer with us Saturday, May 21st at 5th Ward – Farmer Street Garden via Houston Habitat for Humanity (HHFH). Volunteers will assist with revitalizing garden beds and landscaping. All tools will be provided. Come prepared to work hard, get dirty, and make a lasting impact for a family and a community!

KINDER INSTITUTE LUNCHEON 2022

Stephen L. Klineberg will share findings from the 41st Kinder Houston Area Survey, and the institute will celebrate Dr. Klineberg’s retirement after decades of transformational research. The institute will also honor Dr. Anne S. Chao, community leader, philanthropist, educator and historian, for her passionate efforts advancing the appreciation for diversity in Houston.

Bike to Work Day, part of Bike Month, represents a unified day of celebration across the United States where the nation comes together to celebrate the bicycle: as a mode of transportation, as a fun way to explore your city, a way to get to work or just get around your neighborhood. Houstonians are challenged to rethink how we commute to the places we live, work, and play during the month of May.

Starts at the Lost Lake Visitor Center (3422 Allen Parkway), riding along Buffalo Bayou Greenway and ending at City Hall

TEXAS VISION ZERO SUMMIT

Mon & Tues. May 23 & 24, 2022  

Over the course of this two day summit we will be exploring a variety of topics about how we can make our streets and roads safer for everyone, including:

  • From Zero to Vision Zero: adopting meaningful goals and plans
  • Comprehensive speed management strategies
  • Disproportionate impacts of traffic crashes
  • Equitable approaches to Vision Zero
  • Safe Metro Regions: the TxDOT/MPO Safety Task Force
