We’ve Got the Month of May

It’s Crunch Time in the fields and Fiesta Time in the farmstand!

We still have Cinco de Moglo Card promotions currently happening in the farmstand, so be sure to check out the deals on Casa Fiesta, Late July, Vista Hermosa, and Natalie’s products!

What’s Growing On?

Our field crew is hard at work planting a bed of parsley, arugula, edible flowers, and potatoes! The next succession of tomatoes have also been planted in the high tunnels, allowing for a bridge between the greenhouse and fields. In the farmstand you can currently find freshly-harvested radishes and green onions!

Power to the Potatoes!

You could say that our tractor (top left) is powered by fries! Thanks to our veggie oil filter (top right), this tractor is running on waste vegetable oil - recycled from local restaurant fryers - instead of diesel. The oil goes in dirty, then clean and green tractor fuel comes out. How fitting that fry oil contributed to this week’s planting of potatoes! Field Crew Chief, Ryan Hassell, remarked that the planting process made him crave a burger and fries.

Happy birthday to Gladys, our beloved sourdough starter, who just turned 8 years old! In the yeast bread department she’s essentially the favorite, most demanding child. Her temperature, timing, and feeding are all crucial to keeping delectable sourdoughs on the shelves. She’s a testy starter, but she’s worth it!
