2022 National Small Business Week

National Small Business Week, May 1-7, 2022, is a time to honor and celebrate America’s entrepreneurs and innovative startups, including our valued small businesses in Pleasanton. This year’s theme, “Building a Better America through Entrepreneurship,” celebrates the resiliency and tenacity of entrepreneurs who are doing their part to power the nation’s historic economic comeback.

National Small Business Week Virtual Summit, hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration, is happening Monday, May 2 – Thursday, May 5, 2022. Attend the free, virtual summit to access critical federal resources, learn new business strategies, meet other business owners and chat with industry experts!  This 4-day, action-packed event will include educational sessions, online business resources, and exciting speakers. First Weekends on Main
Returns to Downtown Pleasanton

First Weekends on Main is coming back to Downtown Pleasanton this Friday, May 6 to Sunday, May 8. This popular event, hosted by Pleasanton Downtown Association, closes Main Street to traffic every first weekend of the month and encourages friends and family to stroll through our beautiful downtown for safe and fun dining and shopping experiences. The street closure begins Friday at 4PM and remains closed through Sunday at 9PM.

Bike to Wherever Day is May 20, 2022
Bike to Work, School, or wherever in Pleasanton!

May is National Bike Month and throughout the month, the City of Pleasanton has several activities planned to promote bicycle safety and bicycling as a healthy way to travel, including the Bay Area’s Annual Bike to Wherever Day, formerly Bike to Work Day! On Friday, May 20, 2022. Energizer Stations, hosted by the cities of Dublin and Pleasanton, BART, Hacienda, and Veeva Systems, will be set up at both BART stations between 7AM - 9AM to greet cyclists with refreshments and free bike bags filled with giveaways from local and regional sponsors. We hope you cycle over on May 20th to participate!

To prepare bicyclists, the City of Pleasanton is partnering with Bike East Bay to offer bicycle safety education, including an On-the-Road workshop on May 15, and a family cycling workshop on June 12. Visit www.bikeeastbay.org/education to register.

East Bay Small Business Development Center
Business Consulting Services Available

The East Bay Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serves small businesses in both the Alameda and Contra Costa counties. East Bay SBDC provides free business consulting in all areas including business planning, getting funded, financial, marketing, management, technology, and more. 

Outdoor Dining Installation Grant Program
Now Accepting Applications

As part of the City's Business Assistance Program, the City Council approved an Outdoor Dining Installation Grant Program, which provides financial assistance to eating establishments interested in constructing a semi-permanent outdoor dining area. The program will reimburse 50% of the total cost of eligible expenses up to $10,000 incurred by the business related to the design and installation of an outdoor eating area.
