We are thrilled that a good number of people new to GFS Perth have already booked and hope to see many of our current members there to greet them.

There will be food and drinks, an introduction to GFS Perth, update on the new site, as well as chance for us all to chat and decide what we want the group to be and do, AND news of the first ‘FEAT’ we will be undertaking as group- planned in line with the GFS Australia 2022-23 GFS Australia Special Project which is in conjunction with the REMOTE OP SHOP PROJECT www.remoteopshopproject.org

The first mention of Girls Friendly Society (GFS) in Western Australia dates from 1884 through a passionate GFS supporter from England and the first charter was signed in late 1888, making GFS Perth one of the oldest organisations in Western Australia.

Originally established in 1875 by the daughter of an Irish clergyman, GFS is also one of the oldest registered charities in the UK. By 1900, more than 33,000 female volunteers were supporting and mentoring more than 150,000 young women in more than 1,350 branches throughout the UK.

Currently GFS operates in 31 countries around the world, so you will be part of an international movement making a difference in countless lives from providing job skills to disadvantaged young women in Cameroon, The Philippines and Sri Lanka to enabling chicken farming businesses in South Africa, and so much more.
