Covering Systemic Racism

A journalism workshop for students, reporters and editors

Thank you to those of you who have already registered for tonight's journalism workshop on covering systemic racism, co-hosted by the newly created Investigative Project on Race and Equity and the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. 

If you have not yet signed up, there’s still time to register! You must be registered through Eventbrite to access the Zoom link. (See below for details on finding the link.) We hope you can join us.

TONIGHT: Thursday, April 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT

Veteran investigative journalists will conduct the workshop, including:

  • Alden K. Loury, senior editor, WBEZ’s Race, Class and Communities desk.
  • Jeff Kelly Lowenstein, director, Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism.
  • Kari Lydersen, co-director, Social Justice News Nexus, Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
  • Asraa Mustufa, digital editor, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. 
  • Moderator: Josh McGhee, reporter, Injustice Watch.

A few housekeeping notes:

  • You will be able to access the Zoom directly through Eventbrite. Go to https://bit.ly/3rt1lmo and click “Access the Event.” (Make sure you are logged in to Eventbrite with the same email address you used to register.)

  • If you can, please join a few minutes early as we have a lot to cover and the program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. CT.

  • If you have any trouble accessing the program through Eventbrite, you will also receive an email with a direct Zoom link about two hours before the event. If you do not receive this email, please contact Susy Schultz at susy.schultz@gmail.com.
