Meghan's priorities as your next County Commissioner
Priority #3 - Ensuring a Safe Community

As the wife of a law enforcement officer and the mother of two young children, I know how important it is to support those who protect us here at home and keep our community safe.

For families like mine who live in rural Livingston County, we face unique challenges that families living in downtown Howell and Brighton do not, including longer response times for police and emergency medical services.

As your next County Commissioner, I will ensure that our first responders -- Police, Fire, EMS, and Dispatch -- are adequately supported, funded, and equipped to keep our community safe.

As our campaign for County Commissioner continues, it is an honor to have the support and endorsement of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan.

ABC is a statewide trade association with local commercial and industrial construction industries from across Michigan, including builders in Livingston County. ABC supports fair and open competition, free enterprise, and, most importantly, workers' freedom of choice concerning union membership and training programs.

Meghan in the Community
Last week I had the opportunity to attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the "new" Fowlerville Area Fire Department Central Station. It's been a busy couple of weeks throughout Livingston County. Thank you to those who have spent years making this project come to fruition.

The new station will be over 17,000 square feet big and includes five drive-thru bays, offices, crew quarters, a kitchen, and a training room. There is no doubt that this station will help the FAFD serve the 108 square miles and the sixteen thousand people they protect for years to come.

I also had the opportunity to attend the Putnam Township Board meeting recently, where there was significant discussion from township residents during the call to the public.

Like many families in Putnam Township, my husband and I chose to raise our family out in the country -- living among cows and corn, as I say.

I am passionate about the unique issues that families and farmers in the rural areas of Livingston Country face. And as your next County Commissioner, I am committed to being a strong voice on the County Commission for rural Livingston County.
