Coffee Chat: Understanding the County Budget Process
Co-hosted by the County of Santa Cruz, and nonprofit partners,

Human Care Alliance and Nonprofit Connection Santa Cruz County.
Thursday, May 26, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. | via Zoom | Free
This session will be conducted in English
with simultaneous Spanish interpretation.

In our CORE training and technical assistance, we often talk about budgets as stories that happen to use numbers instead of words to convey our vision, values, and priorities. Whether they’re budgets for a small grant or an entire County or nation, the stories they tell are important, yet often created in a way that makes sense to accountants but may leave the rest of us wondering.

Our featured guests, the County’s Budget Manager, Marcus Pimentel, and Principal Administrative Analyst, Sven Stafford, will provide an overview of the County budget process, its relationship to the strategic and operational plans, opportunities for community input, and the County’s new online budget tool. Participants will have a chance to ask questions, provide feedback on the County’s budget tool, and engage in small group discussions. Read more and Register here: https://bit.ly/CoffeChat-05-26-22

70 Local Nonprofits
Celebrating good people doing great things

"This community is filled with good people. And every year, we get to learn in detail about how these good people help children, families, and seniors learn, grow, heal, play, and thrive in Santa Cruz County.

Then, thanks to the generosity of more good people over the course of 40 years, we get to fund the work of nonprofits with the most promising solutions to the issues we face in our community.

This spring, we awarded $1.73 million to 70 local nonprofits working toward recovery from the isolation, stress, and economic hardship of the pandemic; helping people live and die with dignity; and protecting the places and programs that make Santa Cruz County special." Meet this year's Awardees

Our Nonprofit Members believe in the power of collaboration and resource sharing to strengthen everyone’s ability to meet the challenges of providing excellent programs and services to our community.
