Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans

Early Voting to Start on May 6

On May 6 - early voting will begin for the June 21 primary.  Our Congressman Ben Cline has drawn a primary challenger, and it is important that each of us comes out to the polls to have our voice heard.  You will be able to vote early at your local registrar's office.  Hope to see each of you out there!  If you have questions as to where your Registrar' office is, either contact your local Unit or I'll be glad to assist.

Filler Corn is OUT!

Coming off their disastrous performance in November 2021, Delegate Scott from Portsmouth sent a letter to the Democrat House Leadership, calling for new party elections.  Eileen Filler-Corn, the former Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates (D - NOVA), who had been demoted from Speaker to Minority Leader, was voted out yesterday by her peers.  Filler-Corn was a disaster as Speaker.  She did not understand rules, and was a brainchild behind much of the disastrous legislation which came out of Richmond from 2020 and 2021.  Filler-Corn never met a tax increase she didn't like either.

Oddly enough, the Democrat Caucus was not able to choose Filler-Corn's successor.  Delegate Don Scott was likely interested in the job, as he was the one who first called for and then lobbied for the job of Minority Leader.  For now,  the House Democrats remain leaderlless and rudderless.

More Bad News from Richmond.

The Democrat led Senate, with help from "Republican" Emmett Hanger, was able to kill Governor Youngkin's gas tax holiday during the veto session.  It seems that the Democrats, along with some enabling from Mr. Hanger, believe that the government needs the money more than you and I do.

As the Vice President of the 2nd largest fleet of taxicabs in Virginia, I can tell you how important that gas tax holiday is to taxi drivers, TNC operators (Uber/Lyft), truckers, couriers, and other livery drivers.  Maybe more so, that gas tax holiday is important to working families.  Inflation is killing the average Virginian, and the fact that Senate Democrats and Mr. Hanger don't get this or don't care is beyond belief.  (Picture above is from yesterday's vote)

Well Done Delegate Rob Bell

Over the coming weeks and months, I will be highlighting legislation from each member of the 6th Congressional District's Richmond Delegation.  Today I'd like to thank Delegate Rob Bell (R-Albemarle/Rockingham), who got passed HB741, legislation which requires each school to have a floor plan readily available for 1st responders in case of a school shooting.  Of personal interest to me, Delegate Bell also sponsored and had passed HB 1350, one of the many "Beagle Bills" passed by the General Assembly in the wake of Dr. Fauci's sending taxpayer dollars to perform unnecessary research on Beagles.  (given the fact that I have a 4.5 year old Beagle, this is very important to me and many other pet owners personally).  HB 1350 would ban the sale of any dog or cat specifically for research purposes.  (A special thanks to Rockingham GOP Chair Daryl Borquist for all his hard work in getting to me this information)
