Spring "Fund-Ranger"

Campaign is Open for

 One More Month

Goal is $8000. $1500 Raised So Far

*************
Dear ANPR family,

ANPR's Spring "Fund-Ranger" campaign is underway now through May 31, and one of our top priorities is raising money for the Rick Smith Honorary International Fund. Here's why! The International Ranger Federation (IRF) hosts a World Ranger Congress about every three years, and the 10th WRC is scheduled to be in the Azores, Portugal in June 2023. This is an amazing opportunity to meet and learn from rangers of protected areas all over the world. With political tensions high worldwide, the WRC provides a place for all of the world's rangers to come together in solidarity and bond over the work they love. ANPR plans to provide scholarships to members who would like to attend next year’s WRC. In 2019, ANPR awarded scholarships to four ANPR members and a few rangers from Latin America, which helped them attend the WRC in Chitwan National Park, Nepal.

ANPR also maintains an active and ongoing relationship with the Ranger Foundation and has provided financial support since it formed. During this Covid-19 pandemic, ANPR has given a handful of grants to the Ranger Foundation which in turn have been given to families of park rangers in Latin America who have died from Covid-19. We hope that this support will help keep these families on their feet during a very difficult time.

Any size donation to the Rick Smith Honorary International Fund will help us to continue providing both scholarships to the WRC and financial support to the families of Latin American Rangers. Thank you!

Thank you for your support through the years!

The University of Central Florida - The Indigenous Rangers Project

If you are an indigenous ranger, your assistance in this project is needed. If you know any indigenous rangers, please pass this information on to them.

You are being invited to voluntarily take part in a research study. The purpose of this research is to examine perceptions and experiences of indigenous rangers. You are being asked to participate because of your experience working in protected and conservation areas. The data you provide will be valuable for strengthening conservation efforts. You are being asked to participate in an interview that will be recorded. This interview will be conducted online through virtual conferencing software (e.g., Skype, Zoom), telephone, or mobile app (e.g., WhatsApp, Viber). You can conduct the interview in a setting and time of your choice. The interview is expected to last approximately 30-60 minutes, and your responses will be confidential.

You must be 18 years of age or older, a ranger who self-identifies to be indigenous/aboriginal, and a ranger who is responsible for front-line conservation management and monitoring efforts.

If you would like to participate in the study, please contact:
William Moreto, Associate Professor, Department of Criminal Justice, College of Community Innovation and Education, by email at william.moreto@ucf.edu.
