Permian Basin Hosts Local Learning

Last month, the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB), Midland ISD, and Ector County ISD invited local community organizations, funders, the Texas Education Agency, and other stakeholders to “come and see” the teacher preparation pipeline work that has been underway for the past two years. Participants heard from educator preparation and district leaders as well as teacher candidates and mentors about how their training experiences and preparation have transformed over the last 2 years. UTPB has committed to ensuring that every candidate is day-one ready for PK-12 classrooms through the development of strong district partnerships, yearlong paid residencies, highly effective mentor teachers, and improvements to coursework and instruction.
