May is National Mental Health Month. We want to recognize remarkable individuals at mental health and primary care practices in the District. From doctors and nurses to technicians and janitors, we want to showcase these front-line healthcare workers as a “thank you” for their work each day. Know someone deserving of this recognition or recognize yourself? Nominate them here.

The Mental Health America website has several resources and tools available for practices and patients. See them all by clicking here.

ICYMI: Now Offering CE for Social Workers and CME

Integrated Care DC, though our partners at Health Management Associates (HMA), has begun offering social work continuing education credits.

Health Management Associates, #1780, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Health Management Associates maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 09/22/2021 – 09/22/2022. To earn CE credit, social workers must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course and complete an online course evaluation.

The health care environment—with its packed workdays, demanding pace, time pressures, and emotional intensity—can put physicians and other clinicians at high risk for burnout. As we commemorate National Mental Health Month, it’s important to remember burnout can also threaten patient safety and quality of care, leading to poor interactions with patients. Check out this resource for a range of interventions aimed at building resiliency among healthcare workers.
