2022 Next Gen Para Hockey Development Camp

This past week, 29 players selected by Hockey Canada attended the NextGen Para Hockey Development Camp in Montreal.

Here's a quick run-down of how the event went, courtesy of Gino Pellizzari:

"Being picked to go to Montreal and participate in the Team Canada Next Gen Para Hockey Development camp has been a thrill beyond belief for Matteo Pellizzari and Mitchell Garrett who represented BC at this event. The group took part in drills and skills on the ice as well as group talks and team building off the ice.

Elevating their own level of play to personal heights was a goal that both players achieved at the camp. Mental toughness was built into every drill to balance out the physical effort that Matteo and Mitchell had to put forth to establish their presence on the ice. Special thanks to the Team Canada coaching staff and all the assistants, who were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout the week!

US Sled Hockey National Championship

Congratulations to Philipe Bonnot and the Seattle Kraken on placing third in the US Sled Hockey National Championship! This is the third time Phil has competed with Seattle, with the best results yet.

Phil is a 15 year veteran of Team BC and he brings his leadership and experience to help develop team Seattle. They had a hard fought battle winning 3 of 4 games, with Phil getting 2 shut outs. Seattle lost in the semifinals to the Ohio Warriors (a team with lots of veterans!) who went on to win the tournament.

Phil would like to thank the coaches and his teammates for these opportunities and for welcoming him into their hockey family. Special thanks also to Seattle Adaptive Sports for sponsoring the team!

We're proud to have local boccia athletes + officials represent BC on this big stage!
