Hello  <<First Name>>

April was a relatively quiet month for CCN, with many folk enjoying some time off over Easter. Nevertheless, I have been working behind the scenes preparing plans for the coming year to support CCN through a campaign mapping exercise, skills audit and revisit of the Network's vision and aims, with a view to becoming more cohesive and strategic. I have also been meeting individual members on a one-to-one basis to introduce myself and hear what their plans and prioties are over the coming year. I look forward to sharing more information on this in due course.

CCN Forum updates
Aquaculture
Members of the aquaculture group met with NatureScot and SEPA to discuss addressing cumulative impacts of fish farming and the statutory advice provided to other agencies on this. The meeting was worthwhile and NatureScot have agreed to review their internal guidance to reflect changes to Marine Scotland's summary of science on the impacts of sea lice to wild salmon and sea trout (basically that a risk exists!).

The group also had its first general Forum call. This monthy online meet-up provides a space for members to share updates and oganise more strategically around upcoming opportiunities to influence the strategic direction of travel.

Restoration
The CCN Restoration Forum held its first meeting this month to discuss ideas around restoration and hear what other groups are working on. Dr Richard Lilley from Project Seagrass was onhand to answer questions and point the group to appropriate information and resources. A second meeting will take place in early May.

CCN Virtual Session
On Thusday 6th May we will have our monthly webinar. This time we are joined by Plastic@Bay to discuss the scourge of marine plastic on our shores. We will also discuss the possibility of CCN engaging more strategically  on the issue.

The films have been created by Tim Merrick during his time living and working on the island as the relief nurse practitioner.

This first video (below) gives you a brief introduction to the island and to the community. Jimmy Stout talks about life on Fair Isle through the years and the many changes which have occurred since his childhood.

Join and learn of the rich history, tradition and wildlife which Fair Isle has to offer!
